Violence Aid Project
Members of the International Knightly Order of Saint George are committed historically and by affirmation to vanquish the dragons of Want, Poverty and Injustice. Contributions to fundraising events supplement the annual oblations and other donations offered to benefit the causes espoused by the Order. In addition, large quantities of second-hand clothing, bedding, and medical equipment have been sent on a regular basis in recent decades to aid the needy in Eastern Europe. The principal project of the twenty-first century has been the reconstruction and furnishing of a derelict building as a home for the elderly in Nyďgelse in the north-east of Hungary. A special appeal was organised under the patronage of Lord Taylor of Blackburn (Knight Grand Cross of Saint George) and the money needed to complete the project was raised within two years. As a result, the Saint George Home was completed on schedule and opened by the Grand Master and his wife, Dame Iris, on 20 August 2002. It now provides accommodation to a modern standard for sixteen elderly people in need, as well as housing a day centre which serves the wider community of older people in this deprived area. Besides this project, the Order has provided financial assistance to the Hungarian Foundation which has care of many who have suffered persecution over the years. The European Flood Victims Relief Fund and the American Fund for Victims of September 11th were other recent recipients of donations. Members of the Grand Priory of the United Kingdom are currently raising money for an orphanage, a children hospice, the Royal British Legion and several British churches. Following the Gulf War donations were made to the benevolent funds of British forces who suffered casualties in the conflict. Most recently, the Order has been razing funds for the Army Benevolent Fund.
The Grand Priory Kingdom of The Netherlands principal project on this moment is the support and building of the Violence Aid Project together with fellow knights and dames of the Bailiwick of the Netherlands from the Federation of Autonomous Priories of the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta.

Considering the historical roots of the Federation of Autonomous Priories of the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta, it is only natural that its members individually, and the Order as a whole, had developed a constant concern for the peoples affected by emergencies and the consequent desire of assisting them.
No wonder the legacy of the forefathers of the Order was that of constantly patrolling the roads to the Holy Places during the centuries past, in search of the infirm, the destitute and the pilgrims victim of violence and persecution, for the purpose of bringing them to the ‘Sacra Domus Hospitalis’ of Saint John and Saint Madeleine in Jerusalem, where they were comforted, healed and some times even buried.
We may say indeed that they built up and constituted in their time a very sophisticated Emergency Task Force and provided with a full follow-up operational system. With the intent of regrouping, coordinating and organizing in a more efficient and effective fashion the dispersed and separate efforts, interventions, services and experiences of the Federation and its Knights in this humanitarian endeavour throughout the world, the Order invited two of its Knights, both also recognized worldwide among the most eminent doctors in the field of Medical Emergency, to design a comprehensive 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, International Emergency Care Services of the Federation, following and within the spirit of the actual Constitution of the Order in force since June 24, 1994.

Even if this practice were not to produce any detection of windows for improvement, due to the impossible and presumptuous assertion that the systems may had reached the maximum of perfection, the continuous exercise of Quality Review and Efficiency Improvement Systems will prevent the corruption of such levels of perfection after being applied time and again in a monotonous routine.
